Our Director James has worked in private Architectural Practice from 1997, initially completing his apprenticeship and continuing his work place education at a Hinckley based studio. During this time James worked towards and obtained his Professional status in 2010 and became a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (MCIAT).
In 2014 James was promoted to an Associate role within the Studio, before leaving for pastures new after 18 years service.
James then worked for a large Coventry based Studio from 2015, where at he was promoted from Associate to Associate Director in 2018. This was in recognition of his hard work and continued success with how he managed projects, clients, and peers alike.
July 2020 marked a new challenge for James where he has launched ‘James Fleming Architectural’, a Studio based in Hinckley, where he utilises the experience gained to offer a creative, robust and efficient service.
In October 2021 JFA became a Limited company, outlining the continued measured success over the last year.
Over the years James has been fortunate to have experienced a wide variety of project types in a number of sectors. Whilst he has a bias to Residential Extensions, Residential New build dwellings both one off and large sites and Residential Conversions, James has also worked on Student accommodation, Industrial Units, Commercial, Healthcare, Nursing Homes, & Leisure facilities.
A number of projects have been Full Services where James has been responsible for the production of the necessary work from inception to completion. This type of project attracts the need for post Building Regulation support which comprises of Production Information, Specification, Schedule of Works and then Contract Administration throughout the Construction Stage of work.
James has been instructed to act as a Supervising Officer on a number of projects, to attend regular site meetings, undertake inspections of the building works to date and chair Design and Construction Team meetings, to assist the lead Contractor to deliver the project.
In May 2024 James successfully acquired a Level 3 Award in Retrofitting Old and Traditional Buildings, this accompanies his recent role acting as a Retrofit Designer, partnering with a Retrofit Coordinator to deliver retrofit improvement measures to hundreds of properties across the country, working along side local authorities to deliver funded decarbonisation schemes.
